The Imaginarium is doing motion-capture on Star Wars: Episode VII and stand-alone spin-offs!

Andy Serkis has confirmed via SciFiNow that The Imaginarium is doing all the motion capture on future Star Wars films (plural):

The Imaginarium is now involved in all of the performance capture on the Star Wars projects,” Serkis confirms, “and I’m playing a character in that.”

There is some debate as to if Serkis is just saying he’s in Star Wars or if he’s doing motion capture in the film. Although the author seems to qualify his quote by stating it is  “not necessarily a given” that Serkis is doing motion capture on the film.

I think the value in this piece works two ways: it tells us that The Imaginarium is involved and that’s awesome. But it also tells us that there’s a good chance Serkis will be in multiple Star Wars films for this reason over the years since he’s their go-t0 guy for the big impressive motion capture perforance work.
