Today Latino Review reported:
Well, I can forward that timeline for you today: there are Hutts in The Force Awakens, we know because those Hutts have been practically built.
I heard this same information very recently from someone I really respect. That person had it confirmed from someone reputable. But there is a little more to the story. I was told four to five Hutts were constructed using the same techniques from Return of the Jedi. The puppets appear in the same shot and it was insanely difficult to do.
In my mind’s eyes, I saw it as The Hutt Grand Council from Star Wars: The Clone Wars:
But it should also be noted that back in August of 2014, we heard this from a source:
Leia and the Hutts – There was a production sketch done very very early on which showed Princess Leia standing in the middle of several Hutts. She was wearing a maroon dress (political style) and was flanked by two soldiers (they looked to me like the Naboo guards from Phantom Menace but to others they looked like the rebel soldiers from the beginning of A New Hope.) The picture looked as if she was having a meeting with them. She certainly didn’t appear to be captive or under threat. I have no idea if this sketch has anything to do with the movie that is being shot as it was very early on.
As we know, the guards are the Greenham Common set guards. In a follow up report, the source elaborated and said those were the guards he saw with Leia. I described the concept art which was used on screen here.
Initially I was waiting to have a more complete picture of the Hutts appearance in the film and to verify it a little more. But now that its out there, its out there. With the knowledge we have of the film right now, I can’t figure out how it fits into the current film. We could speculate that Leia has to convince the Hutts to join the rebels instead of the imperials but faces some rocky problems since she choked Jabba the Hutt to death. There is room for an idea like that in the film, but it seems outside the flow of what we know for the movie.
Hopefully if this is all accurate we can get some more information on the Hutts. The point is I just recently heard this rumor Latino Review has heard and there was some basis for it mentioned to us before. I wasn’t entirely ready to go forwarded on this one though, but that’s what I know. It has legs. Well Hutts don’t, but the story as far as rumor goes does.
