Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Exclusives: Funko Steals My Wallet

A long, LONG time ago (last year) I started my tenure at MakingStarWars with a focus on collecting.  Then 2015 hit and I haven’t done a collectibles round-up all year.  It’s been a long time… I shouldn’t have left you…

In all honesty, there just hasn’t been much (positive) to report.  Many of the toy licensees are in a holding pattern as we gear up for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and because they can’t release any information, there isn’t much to report.

Fortunately, there’s this small, intimate gathering in Anaheim next month and I’m guessing we’ll see some rips in the mystery box very soon.

To tide us over, information on Celebration exclusives is slowly being released and today we got news from one of my favorites: Funko.

Funko will be having FIVE Celebration Exclusives (well technically four exclusives, one first-to-market): A shock trooper, E-3Po (chrome), R2-Q5, and R2-R9 are the exclusives, and the super cool Vader unmasked is a first-to-market figure (which means non-Celebration attendees will have a chance to buy it at a later date).

I have to say that E-3PO and R2-Q5 are my favorites of the batch.  But I’ll likely be buying all of them.  ALL OF THEM!

While these are very cool, it does raise one potential issue with this year’s Celebration: with all the secrecy, I wonder if there will be virtually no Star Wars: The Force Awakens-related merchandise at Celebration.  I think this would be a huge miss.  We’ve already seen characters like Kylo Ren, BB-8, Finn, and Rey.  Why not at least have something based on those images?  Part of me is still hoping we get some last-second surprises from companies like Funko.  How amazing would it be to get a BB-8 Funko POP! Celebration Exclusive?

Head over to Popvinyl.net for additional pictures of the exclusives!  Which are your must-haves for the convention?
