Star Wars: Episode VIII filmed at Skellig Michael and no animals were hurt.

Radio Kerry has announced that the filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII at Skellig Michael was a great success in striking a balance between protecting the location’s wildlife and using the location for Star Wars:

The filming of scenes for Star Wars VIII took place on Skellig Michael over the course of three days between Tuesday and Thursday.

Minister Humphreys says she is confident the right balance was struck between protecting the UNESCO world heritage site and allowing the filming to take place.

It sounds like the protectors of the island were able to get the right restrictions set up to protect the wildlife while allowing the artists to make their film. That’s great news for the animals and the animals we call Star Wars fans!

Thanks to Mike Jones for the heads up!
