MakingStarWars.net —  Our friends at Jedi Bibliothek (@germanjedi on Twitter) recently noticed that none other than Commander Versio herself — Janina Gavankarnarrates the audio version of Christie Golden’s upcoming book entitled Battlefront II: Inferno Squad.

Golden (the author of the very well-received Dark Disciple) penned a companion story to the original Battlefront novel, which  followed the exploits of the Rebel Alliance’s Twilight Company.

This time, the perspective has changed. Abridged publisher’s synopsis:

Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad

Battlefront II: Inferno Squad

Set in the aftermath of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, this action-packed prequel to the hotly anticipated videogame Battlefront II introduces the Empire’s elite force: Inferno Squad.

The elite soldiers of Inferno Squad [take on] the crucial mission of infiltrating and eliminating the Partisans; the rebel faction once led by notorious Republic freedom fighter Saw Gerrera.

Following the death of their leader, the Partisans [carry on] his extremist legacy… Inferno Squad must prove its status as the best of the best and take down the Partisans from within. But the growing threat [of discovery] in their enemy’s midst turns an already dangerous operation into a do-or-die acid test they dare not fail.

The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad.

Versio Speaks

Gavankar, a self-described “Actor. Musician. Geek.” and recognized as the “best part of EA Play,” hosted the E3 Star Wars Battlefront 2 panel/press conference this past weekend in Hollywood.

The actor enjoys playing Iden Versio in both the upcoming game and novel, and admitted as much with her performance at EA3, her story (on her iconic Iden dress) for altfound.com, and her social media:

  • @Janina tweeted: “Finally, I can confirm: I have the honor of playing Inferno Squad Commander Iden Versio in @starwars Battlefront II”
  • Replying to @TheSWLegacy, on June 11 Gavankar wrote: “Secret is out? I can talk about this now?? Tis truuue!!!! 😁 And Ms. @ChristieGolden has me so emotional with this backstory.”

Similarly, Star Wars canon was recently graced by Ashley Eckstein’s reprisal of her Ahsoka Tano role via the  narration of E.K. Johnston’s Ahsoka novel.

Battlefront II: Inferno Squad hits bookshelves on July 25 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to hit consoles on November 14th, 2017.
