New Star Wars: 1313 concept art has emerged. But upon delving deeper into the images, I checked out Senior Concept Designer Gus Mendoca’s page to find more concept art from the character. I believe this character was a Sith Lord concept by Iain McCaig (now working on Ep.7), for Darth Maul that was rejected. Apparently this character has been extrapolated upon and revised for Star Wars: 1313. Like always, when art work leaks for Star Wars: 1313, you have to ask if this was a character created for Star Wars: Underworld.
What was Star Wars: Hive? Is that a code name for 1313 or Underworld? Or just an alternate title? Very interesting.
It does say it is a mentor’s helmet at another phase. Perhaps this character would have been someone special to Boba?
STAR WARS 1313 CONCEPT ART
IGN recently published and extensive article about Star Wars 1313 featuring several of my Concept Designs Illustrating the visual direction for the project. I had the incredible opportunity to work on 1313 since the beginning. I was the first Concept Artist officially hired for the project and spent about 4 years designing visuals for Star Wars 1313 amongst other LucasFilm, LucasArts and Lucas Publishing projects. I have created thousands of Concepts for this project ranging from the two main Characters Boba Fett and Kellic to several of the underworld districts of Coruscant as well as weapons, vehicles, story moments, storyboards, Matte Paintings, etc. Working on 1313 was one of the most fulfilling and challenging design jobs on my 15+ years career in the entertainment industry.
Seeing these images again brings back some great memories of working with some of the best artists I have ever met. I hope you enjoy the visuals.
