Hit Flix ran this quote last night about Jesse Plemons’ rumored involvement with Star Wars Episode VII:
Yeah, I think it’s just one of those crazy rumors.
So there we have it. Jesse Plemons has denied involvement with Star Wars: Episode VII. Well, he denied being cast anyways.
Almost immediately, it was decided he might be lying. He might be! But the problem with assuming as much is that we then accept no other response than “Yes, I am in Star Wars and while they haven’t announced it, I’m telling you because I love you so much.”
Sure, Abrams lied and mislead about Cumberbatch and Khan in Star Trek into Darkness. I assume that was the knee-jerk thought that popped in your brain, because that’s the knee-jerk response that popped into mine.
At the end of the day, we just have to say “okay,” and then think “we’ll see” and move on with the speculation.
When an actor is asked “are you in Star Wars?” There are only two possible answers, “yes” or “no,” and we have to accept that there are two possibilities. If not we kind of fall into conspiracy theorist thinking. Not every denial is a conspiracy against you and your fandom.
