Lupita Nyong’o being considered for Episode VII?

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the recent Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is on a short list of women being considered for one of the lead roles in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Now Nyong’o’s name has surfaced in connection to Star Wars. Because of the secrecy, it is unclear which role it could be. One possibility is that of a descendent of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which has been described as a non-Caucasian role. That is separate from the search for two roles, female and male, for characters in their twenties.

Nyong’o’s recent breakout role in 12 Years a Slave has landed her in the spot light as of recent. After graduating from Yale University School of Drama she had only had relatively small roles. Take this with a grain of salt until anything is officially announced.

Latino Review also heard the same rumor and reported it as well. However, there report differs in this way:

Calls were made to Lupita’s reps and they responded, “We’re not allowed to talk about that.”

From what I heard, Lupita might be going up for a a sith!

So both Latino Review and THR agree that Nyong’o is on the short list women being considered. But one suggest Obi-Wan’s offspring and the other a Sith. This is interesting to say the least.
