Sequel TrilogyThe Force Awakens

Since we know Star Wars: Episode VII features a trio, lets briefly look back at the casting call

Now that we know Star Wars: Episode VII takes place thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI,  we can finally put to bed the silly rumors that Star Wars: Episode VII takes place soon after Return of the Jedi and they are using deaging computer visual effects and other rumors that persisted on a continual basis. We can actually begin to look at some factual information about the film and get a few ideas of what it might look like.

It is a fact the film features a “trio,” meaning three people. We know that “Rachel” and “Thomas” most likely make up two thirds of that trio. So is the trio completed by another male character or another female character? While a trio of two women and a man would be interesting, I’m not sure that’s the case in this instance based on recent rumors. We have consistently heard rumors of a female Sith, even as recently as Lupita Nyong’o just last week was said to play a young female Sith.

First female cast listing:

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

The good sense of humor certainly sounds like a hero to me. Unless Star Wars plans to make a hilarious villain, which seems unlikely.

The second female role:

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

The second female could be a villain. It also might not be. But none of the wording makes me think she is good. I assume this part was meant to complement the female hero lead, initially. Perhaps the villain complements the female hero lead in this instance instead?

The male parts:

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

It is hard to see this character as anything but the hero from this information. Unless he turns to the dark side because he’s not “hot enough,” I see no reason to think otherwise.

Now this one:

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Sounds a lot like who Adam Driver would be playing as the main bad guy and it lines up with his age rather well. But then again, this could also be the same character, although I doubt it because a bad guy will have to fight and being fit is important for that if the bad guy is younger instead of older.

This one small piece of information, that the main cast consists of a “trio” really allows us to examine a lot of older information better. I have a feeling there’s a lot to look back on.
