This morning, the Del Rey Star Wars Twitter account (@DelReyStarWars) announced that Kevin Hearne’s Heir to the Jedi and Paul S. Kemp’s Lords of the Sith will each be released later than the dates that were given initially. Heir to the Jedi will hit store shelves on February 17th, 2015, instead of in January, while Lords of the Sith is now scheduled to release on April 21st, 2015, instead of in March.
No specific reasons were given as to why the release dates were suddenly changed. @DelReyStarWars merely attributed it to “Just our publisher shuffling dates.” And although I, for one, would like to get my hands on the new Star Wars books as soon as possible, it is somewhat comforting, if begrudgingly, to think that the release dates were only pushed back one month, as opposed to longer.
As far as we know, John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn and James Luceno’s Tarkin are still on track for their initial slated release dates: September 2nd, 2014 for Dawn, and November 4th, 2014 for Tarkin.
