EA planning similar launch window for Battlefront with Star Wars: Episode VII

With the filming at Skellig Michael well underway and their 2 mile temporary exclusion zone guarded by the Irish Coast Guard (yes really) , a few days ago EA said during their earnings call released by Seeking Alpha that they plan on releasing the highly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront around the same time as Star Wars: Episode VII‘s theatrical release in December of 2015. They also want to make clear that it is not based off of the new films.

“What we’re building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made… And that’s just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars.

“Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that we’re directly tied to it.” – EVP of EA Studios Patrick Soderlund.

This would be great news for star wars fans considering that we would get this beautiful looking game as well as the kick start of the new trilogy around the same time! What a time it will be. The game is in deep development at DICE in Sweden with meticulous detail, care, and love being put in to it. This will be one of, if not THE best Star Wars games ever created, which is also what they have been quoted saying they want it to be.
