This morning I read a sad story about a dude that grew his beard out for three months because of the “salty sea dogs” casting call. The poor dude shaved his beard and then got a call 17 minutes later inviting him to be an extra, provided he still had the beard.
However, Casting Collective isn’t casting Star Wars extras. Casting Collective even went as far as to ask the fake casting call to edit their piece back on May 6th:
@alanbaltes please remove The Casting Collective from your posts about Star Wars castings. None of our urgent castings are for Star Wars.

It is believed the casting call is for the film Pan.
The story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny — to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.
The original website that put up the casting call appears to have put a casting call for Pan on the internet that was made to appear as if it were for Star Wars. The salty sea dogs are likely Captain Hook’s pirates, I would assume.
All said, sweet beard!
