Variety has a write up of the Disney call which drops a lot of information regarding Disney Theme Parks and Star Wars attractions!
The first plans to add more attractions based on the sci-fi franchise will be revealed next year, Iger said during a conference call with analysts to discuss Disney’s record third quarter results.
I am just guessing, but I would say the next D23 will probably be when the news starts to hit about the previously code named project “Orange Harvest.”
During the call, Iger said when Disney now decides to build new attractions, “the likelihood of their success is greater” when they’re branded. “When we grow ‘Star Wars” presence, which we will do significantly, you will see better bets being made that will pay off for us than were made in the past,” adding that leveraging the collection of franchises and properties that the company now owns will deliver “better returns than we saw in the past.”
Branding has always been a huge part of the Disney way, especially as of late. Branded attractions clearly work best for us and I’m glad they are taking this path during the Star Wars age.
When asked about obtaining third parties, Iger responded:
“We don’t have to license from third parties,” he said. “We own them all.”
