StarWars.com has a great Simon Kinberg interview conducted by Dan Brooks. The interview covers some interesting ground like how Kinberg became involved in with Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm:
She said, ‘I’m going to be working on Star Wars, and is it something you might be interested in?’ And I said, ‘Uh, yeah.’ We just started having casual conversations, which led to a meeting with George Lucas.
Kinberg also divulges how it lead to him being involved with Star Wars: Episode VII:
Yeah. It was one of the most thrilling and daunting meetings of my life, as you can imagine. That meeting was about working on the films. I was really excited about it, and signed on to write one of the movies, which I’m gonna do, and to be part of the community of writers who were talking generally about what to do with the new Lucasfilm and Star Wars properties. That’s how I ended up a consultant on [Star Wars:] Episode VII.
Also, I called Zeb the Mr. T of Star Wars Rebels and this is revealed:
One of the first things they said was, they had the paradigm of the A-Team, where they wanted it to be a group.
That makes a lot of sense! The A-Team is also a Seven Samurai retelling. The interview is really fun and has a lot of information you’re going to want to read first hand. So head over to StarWars.com and read Dan’s awesome interview with Simon Kinberg!
