Tatiana Maslany, Rooney Mara, and Felecity Jones testing for lead roles in first Star Wars stand-alone spin-off!

Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara are testing for a lead role in the next Star Wars stand-alone spin-off according to THR:

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Tatiana Maslany, the Canadian actress who stars as multiple replicants in BBC America’s hit series Orphan Black, is testing for the female lead in the Star Wars spin-off that is being directed by Gareth Edwards.

Rooney Mara, who starred in the David Fincher version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is also due to test this week among a handful of others, according to multiple sources.

They also note that actor Felecity Jones is on the wantlist.

Another interesting tidbit:

Simon Kinberg, who is already co-writing the Trank standalone with Lawrence Kasdan, would take over writing during.

So that would explain why Kasdan was still said to have a stand-alone spin-off. It appears Kinberg is the go-to guy for collaborations on these new films!
