Star Wars: Rogue One Finds Its Music Composer?

It looks like Rogue One director Gareth Edwards is reuniting with his musical composer from Godzilla, Alexandre Desplat, on the upcoming Star Wars stand alone film. Desplat announced the collaboration in a recent interview with Radio Classique (according to Jason, it is at 56:13 in the interview, however, it is in French). Desplat has a diverse body of work, including several Wes Anderson movies, the last couple of Harry Potter films, and many, many other mainstream Hollywood films as well as a lot of foreign films. Rogue One will be the first live-action Star Wars theatrical film not to be scored by John Williams, which isn’t all that surprising as many have long speculated that Williams would only continue on with the episodic installments, leaving new talent to take over the musical duties on the spin offs.

Rogue One, starring Felicity Jones, arrives in theaters December 16, 2016.
