Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood is reporting Colin Trevorrow has locked 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX as the film he’ll direct after Book of Henry. Trevorrow will follow in the footsteps of J.J. Abrams (The Force Awakens) and Rian Johnson (Star Wars: Episode VIII) to complete the sequel trilogy of Star Wars films.
On some of the earliest podcast episodes we ever recorded, I hoped that Colin Trevorrow would direct Star Wars: Episode VII. He didn’t get the movie of course, as Abrams was granted the job. He then got Jurassic World and the Trevorrow’s career was on track for greatness in the blockbuster genre. Well, now if Trevorrow is announced as the director of Star Wars: Episode IX at the Star Wars panel today, everything will be really great for Trevorrow.
Safety Not Guaranteed is a film I love. I can’t say I actually loved Jurassic World, but I did enjoy the experience of seeing the film. The remaining question I have pertains to who is writing Star Wars: Episode IX and will Trevorrow be involved with that side of things too?
