The Disney Blog has hinted that the Han Solo film will have a connection to the Anthology film Josh Trank recently departed. The official blog for the Disney company stated:
When The Hollywood Reporter broke the Han Solo news this afternoon, it also stated:
The new project is not the same as the one that was to have been directed by Josh Trank. Trank parted ways with the project in May amid a cloud of issues stemming from his Fantastic Four shoot. The project, rumored to be an origin story of the intergalactic bounty hunter Boba Fett, is still searching for a director.
Back in October when Disney purchased Lucasfilm for four billion dollars the word was that a Han Solo and a Boba Fett film were in the works. Well, when Star Wars: Anthology – Rogue One was announced, we all thought maybe that wasn’t true. But as we moved forward it appears to be the case in this instance.
The persistent rumor has been that the Anthology films would link up like the Avengers film do with several smaller films playing into a huge event film. That seems to have been on the table at one point and only time will tell how accurate things have been on that front.
Thanks to Jeffrey Sweeney for the heads up!
