In the newest Star Wars article by EW, Lawrence Kasdan revealed to Anthony Breznican that Han Solo won’t be a ten-year-old kid saying “Wizard!” on screen. So yeah, he also won’t be like this concept from Revenge of the Sith unless you add a few years:
“They said, ‘Here are the things that we’d like to make movies about,’ and I said, ‘Oh, well, Han Solo. I would write a movie about Han Solo. He’s always been my favorite.’ And that’s the job that I took,” Kasdan says.
Another question is how young they should go with young Han Solo. In the Star Wars prequels, Lucas began by presenting Darth Vader as a mischievous, pod-racing child. They won’t be venturing that far back with Solo.
“He’ll definitely be probably in the high teens, low 20s,” Kennedy says. “We’re not introducing you to a 10-year-old Han Solo.”
Han Solo in his low 20s is the film we’re getting. That’s for the best, honestly. That’s going to be the most interesting Han Solo. Most of all it is going to allow them to play with his story in fun ways. Harrison is about 33 in A New Hope if I remember right and he’s supposed to be about 28 or 29 in the film if the old age canon holds up. That gives them almost a decade to tell stories and adventures of Han and Chewbacca where he’s not the guy we already know. I’m looking forward this series most of all, right now anyways.
