Today we have more news about Skellig Michael filming which is going to take place in September. There is a lot of contention regarding which film this shoot is for. Is it a reshoot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens or new shooting for Star Wars: Episode VIII which needs to be handled at a particular time to capture a certain type of weather? I honestly don’t think we’re going to be able to figure that out until we know who is filming there and which crew members are involved. With the amount of consistencies around all of this, I think all parties are sincere and stating what they are hearing. A few months back we started hearing they were going back with a crew of 60!
You may remember the Irish Times reporting:
Boatmen who were contracted for a three-day shoot for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens last summer have been asked to provide transport for another four days, from September 13th to 16th, with a possibility of further “contingency days”. Although this falls outside the main nesting season, there are fears that seabirds will still be present.
Well now the guys that were at Portmagee last Summer, Movie Bit are stating:
Skellig Michael is apparently home to Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens and filming is due to begin on the Island once again on September 14th. But it’s not a reshoot or a few pick up shots for The Force Awakens. An inside source is telling us exclusively that an entire six weeks are blocked for filming in Kerry, which leads us to believe that this is in fact for Star Wars Episode VIII, which will be released in cinemas on May 26th 2017.
When we initially heard about the filming, we heard it was Star Wars: Episode VIII. But it is nearly impossible to figure out what’s really going on. For all we know at this point, they could be going there to shoot for both movies in varying degrees.
Thanks to Movie Bit for sharing what they’ve heard with us! More as this develops over the next few weeks!
