The Wall Street Journal is echoing some news we heard yesterday about Star Wars coming to Netflix. This story is a little different in that it is about reaching new markets or strengthening the presence of Star Wars in new regions:
Luke, Leia and Chewbacca may soon be available to stream on Netflix for the first time—but only in Latin America.
Walt Disney Co. is in talks with Netflix Inc. to put the five “Star Wars” movies it controls on the digital streaming service in Latin America, said people with knowledge of the discussions.
This is interesting after yesterday’s news that Star Wars may be coming to Netflix in general. We have seen Disney express a concern with market awareness in Asian regions but this is the first time we have heard about an attempt to raise awareness in Latin America.
