J.J. Abrams spoke to the Associated Press about the lack of Luke Skywalker in the final trailer:
I rather enjoy the notion that they simply forgot to include Luke Skywalker. One doesn’t just forget to add Luke Skywalker. There is another scoring session with John Williams and some visual effects to be finished and then we will have another Star Wars movie in our eyeballs!
