Sequel TrilogyThe Force Awakens

Leia’s title in Star Wars: The Force Awakens from EW

Leia is a “General” in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  EW has run its new piece on Carrie Fisher returning as Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The article lays out how a certain someone calls Leia “Princess” during one moment of the film. The implication is that Han Solo’s old habits die hard when he’s around Leia.

The recent Journey to the Force Awakens books take it a step further and refer to her as General Organa. So for hardcore Star Wars fans that bought their Journey to the Force Awakens books this last Force Friday this is hardly revealing news. However, the article is insightful nonetheless: the piece discusses the tone of Leia during this era of her life in which she under a lot of pressure, and it also mentions that Carrie Fisher had not acted in a many years but was returning to a very serious role:

“Not easily,” Fisher says, describing Leia as, “solitary. Under a lot of pressure. Committed as ever to her cause, but I would imagine feeling somewhat defeated, tired, and pissed.”

So she’s solitary. The books address her as “General Organa.” I think the implications about her and Han are fairly apparent here. But we only have about a month and some change to go! We’re almost there!
