Variety has confirmed that we heard John Williams’ new music in the recent TV spot.
The new TV spot includes a portion of the film’s score from composer John Williams, who could earn his 50th Oscar nomination in the original score race.
I thought this was interesting as there is an Oscar rule that if a sequel score contains themes from an earlier movie it’s not eligible. (The rule was created because of John Williams was the way I heard it.) But I have heard that it really hasn’t been enforced in a long time. And maybe with John Williams coming towards the end of his career, they’ll let him make it an even 50.
I am surprised we didn’t get new John Williams music in the trailer but we got it in a TV spot. Pretty cool!
Thanks to Chris W. for the heads-up!
