Concept Art: A small preview of The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Wired magazine has some lovely images from The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (now available) by Phil Szostak. Concept art isn’t everybody’s thing, but it can’t be denied Ralph McQuarrie’s incredible paintings for Star Wars are what truly brought George Lucas’ vision to life; for me, that art holds a very special place in my heart. With the prequels we were introduced to a whole new generation of amazing artists and some of the best of them are now working on this new trilogy of the Skywalker saga. Doug Chiang’s work for The Phantom Menace is some of my favorite art ever, and I’m so pleased to see what he’s done for The Force Awakens.

Here’s a small preview of some of the concept art for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The book is available in store and from Amazon now.
