The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the upcoming film Star Trek Beyond will have its trailer attached to The Force Awakens. This move certainly makes sense for multiple reasons. For one thing, even with the generational competition between the two franchises, they are dealing with the same general audience. Plus, The Force Awakens is supposed to get one of the highest–if not the highest–box office numbers this year. That alone is a great reason for anyone to want to be attached to the film.
Beyond that, though, there is the personal connection. J.J. Abrams left working on Star Trek Beyond to do Star Wars. Since J.J. directed the previous two films in the series, and since Bad Robot is one of the production companies putting both movies out, it’s a win/win.
Now, the question is whether these franchises will continue to have any sort of collaborative future or not. In any case, if you’re looking to see the trailer for Star Trek Beyond in theaters, you’ll be in luck when you go to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
