On the “First Order Transmissions Podcast,” Corey and the gang had a chance to interview Mike Quinn. Quinn is a Star Wars legend, having performed and played Nien Nunb in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. When asked about the future of Nien in Star Wars film, Quinn stated:
He’s capable of a lot more than we’ve seen so far, for sure. He has a lot of backstory. He has a lot of history before Lando, with his old smuggling stuff. I would love, love, love, to see him have some good stuff in the Han Solo movie, with young Han. I would like that a lot. They haven’t said anything. They’re still writing. They don’t probably have a full script for it yet. I wouldn’t know until about a year and a half from now anyway, I would imagine. I would love to be in that.
Kathleen said everybody is coming back (for Episode VIII) and people seem to like the Nunbster kicking around here and there. I would like him to do more, so I would say most likely he should be around, right?
I would imagine Quinn wouldn’t need as much prep time for the part in VIII unless they needed to build the whole costume again for some reason. If Nien is still in relatively good condition after The Force Awakens shoot, it might not require that much prep time. With Star Wars: Episode VIII about to shoot, it seems like Quinn would know if he were coming back (but at the same time, he might not say it outright).
The one thing I do know is that tiny babies to old ladies, they all love Nien Nunb. Science fact!
I suggest checking out the full interview.
