Star Wars: Episode VIII delayed until December 15th, 2017.

Borys Kit of Variety just tweeted that Star Wars: Episode VIII has been delayed until December 15th, 2017:

Moments later confirmed the release date. The release doesn’t cite a specific production reason and instead celebrates The Force Awakens success in December. This solves the issue of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out within five months of Star Wars: Episode VIII’s release, which was complicating and confusing. It also explains the one-month production delay and the rumors circulating around it.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Star Wars: Episode VIII will now open up against Ready Player One, a Spielberg film. They also note that the next Pirates of the Caribbean film will open in Star Wars’ previous May slot.
