Casting has never been my strongest area, and I often times shy away from it for the most part. I’m going to chalk this entire article up to fun rumors that I wouldn’t bet on. But crazier things have happened and you just never know what any of this actually means until after the fact half the time. What follows below could be considered minor spoilers for future Star Wars films so if that makes you uneasy, I suggest not reading this article any further.
Kristian Harloff of the Collider Jedi Council and Schomoes Know has heard that Ewan McGregor is in talks to reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Epsiode VIII:
Interestingly, in a really bizarre twist, I recently heard about some people that might be Darth Vader in the up and coming films. I don’t know who they went with and I heard an Australian guy was the front runner but with teams of people making this stuff happen (four people made Chewbacca come to life in the last Star Wars film) it can be hard to say who the primary actor is. Here’s the strange part: one of the sources on the Rogue One side of things was the wrestler Sheamus. You might recall there were some stories he was playing Darth Vader in The Force Awakens. It appears his name was at least floated and it makes me wonder if he actually was set to film something for The Force Awakens at one time. He wore the costume for Lucasfilm on a promotional tour back during the The Phantom Menace era.
I have strong reservations about any of this really going anywhere. I would chalk this up to doubtful. I found it really strange to have a source with generally correct info even drop his name (and they were not aware of the old Star Wars: The Force Awakens story).
It would be really rad to see Ewan McGregor back as Obi-Wan Kenobi and I’m really curious who is going to wear that Darth Vader suit. Who will be the one that does the press tours and all that stuff?
