Deadline is reporting that Disney/Lucasfilm has narrowed down its Han Solo: A Star Wars Story star to Alden Ehrenreich. Alden hasn’t done a ton of well-known roles, but playing Han Solo would definitely be his breakout role. Deadline also mentions that the casting process is being called “Red Cup” as a cover-up for the film’s title.
After screens tests that narrowed down the field of possible actors portraying Han Solo for the stand-alone movie in the Star Wars universe, Alden Ehrenreich has emerged as the front-runner for the coveted role. The casting of this character has been shrouded in secrecy — to the point of it being referred to as project Red Cup (get it? Solo cups). After screen tests, it was narrowed down to only a handful of actors that included Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor.
We probably won’t find out who is officially playing Han till this July’s Star Wars Celebration London, or even next year’s D23. What do you all think of this possible Han Solo? Han Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters in May 2018.
