Mon Mothma to have a significant role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One week continues over at Entertainment Weekly, and today we learn some more about Mon Mothma’s role in the film.  Kathleen Kennedy says that she won’t be a cameo, but will have a rather significant role. As we see in the trailers, it is confirmed that she recruites Jyn on a mission to stop a weapons test. Kathleen goes on to say:

“We actually see quite a bit of her,” says Kennedy (who’s kind of the Mon Mothma of Lucasfilm now). “The Rebel alliance is in disarray. Pretty panicked. Up against it. And she is trying the best she can to provide the leadership, in amongst a wide variety of Rebel soldiers that have very differing opinions as to what to do.”

Mon Mothma is of course played by Genevieve O’Reilly, who portrayed her in Revenge Of The Sith, but her scene was cut from the film. Stay tuned for more Rogue One: A Star Wars Story news later today.
