Rumor: The Star Wars prequel trilogy coming to 3D Blu-ray later in the year!

The Digital Bits is hearing that when Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released on Blu-ray 3D later this year, there may be a set that also has the prequel trilogy. The set will have a bonus disc as well, making it a five-disc set. The Digital Bits is super reliable and they are not saying it is coming for certain, just that it is being considered. Here is the rumor we really hope is true:

The latest from our retail and industry sources is that Disney and Lucasfilm are considering a 5-disc Blu-ray 3D box set, which would include The Phantom MenaceAttack of the ClonesRevenge of the Sith, and The Force Awakens – all in Blu-ray 3D format – along with a fifth disc of exclusive bonus content. The release date would presumably be in time for the holidays this year, and likely timed to promote the theatrical release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on 12/16. As soon as we catch any official word on this we’ll let you know.

As a super fan of the The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith, I hope this pans out. There is nothing I would love more than to have that trilogy and the sequel trilogy all in 3D. I really love 3D and I have seen all three of the prequels in 3D theatrically. Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith look fantastic in 3D and it makes the films even better for me. The Phantom Menace is pretty conservative on the use of 3D but the others are not and it is a really awesome experience to see them in a more visually stunning way. I would still rather see that movie in 3D when I do watch it. I would love to have them in my home along with The Force Awakens.

Hopefully if Lucasfilm is considering it still, they decide to finally release the prequel trilogy in 3D. It will make a lot of people really happy. It would be great to see Rogue One in 3D and then watch another four Star Wars films in 3D at home. That’s would make the holiday season for me on that level.
