Michael Giacchino has been hard at work on the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story score. The schedule is tight, which is why Alexandre Desplat exited the film after the reshoots shifted his schedule. Giacchino lightheartedly discussed having to work on his birthday this year because of the film. He tells THR:
“I didn’t want to go to work that day, but I had to because our schedule was so tight,” said Giacchino. “So I go and sit down and turn on the screen to work and all of these Stormtroopers are running around and I thought to myself, ‘All right this is not a bad birthday.’ “
Giacchino also lets us know that Jyn has a theme in the film. With such a large ensemble it wasn’t a given there would be individual themes for characters so it is neat to get word Jyn has her own theme:
Joining the Star Wars universe has given Giacchino quite the sandbox to play in, but there’s one character whose theme he’s most excited for fans to hear.
“I love the main character. I love Jyn and what they have done with her,” he said of Felicity Jones’ rebel.
I am really curious to hear what a Giacchino-scored Star Wars film sounds like and what Jyn’s theme is going to be. We’re not far off–the film is almost upon us and I can’t wait.
