Comic Book Resources revealed some additional details on the upcoming comic series Star Wars Adventures by IDW Publishing. These comics, which tell mostly original stories, are scheduled to be released in September, with issue #1 coming September 6th and issue #2 coming September 20th. The first issue is written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Eisner-nominated artist Derek Charm.
In an interview with Comic Book Resources, IDW President Greg Goldstein explained that the difference between these comics and Marvel’s comic line is that Marvel’s focus is more on mature or “sophisticated” stories, while Star Wars Adventures will be “all ages”.
I’m always in favor of Star Wars stories being told in a variety of media and targeted to a variety of different audiences and age groups. Part of what makes Star Wars so unique is its ability to live on across generations, and I love seeing more avenues to share Star Wars with younger kids. I’m also enjoying the cover art for the first few issues, including the variants. It’s great to see characters across different time periods featured together.
