Tasked with compiling a Star Wars roundup on Force Friday, there’s nothing better than seeing stories on the Saga from ABC, CNN, and Business Insider. So without further ado…
ABC News looks back at 40 years of Star Wars toys
“You might notice a small upgrade in technology over the years, but kids of the ’70s and ’80s loved their “Star Wars” toys just as much as fans will today,” wrote Michael Rothman in his post ‘Force Friday’: Take a look back at the evolution of ‘Star Wars’ toys. “This look back includes interviews with folks from Hasbro, Sphero and more. Watch the full video above for more!”
Look for Hasbro’s Steve Evans in the video – Jason spoke to him recently for MSW.
Force Friday II akin to Christmas for Star Wars Fans
“It’s Christmas morning for “Star Wars” fans,” wrote Kaya Yurieff in her story, Here’s what Star Wars toys are for sale on Force Friday. “Companies like Lego and Hasbro are showing off a first look at their new toys and collectibles ahead of the latest installment of the film series, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which premieres December 15.”

Challenging your inner Jedi
“To make a long story short, I think a lot of people are going to want this headset,” wrote Business Insider’s Matt Wienberger in his story, This $199 ‘Star Wars’ toy is the best example yet of the technology that could one day replace the smartphone. “On Thursday, Disney and Lenovo unveiled ‘Star Wars: Jedi Challenges,’ a $199 augmented reality headset that lets you lightsaber battle with Darth Vader and lead Resistance troops into combat. And while it’s far from perfect, it’s a sure sign that the augmented reality revolution is way closer to reality than people might think. ”
Pre-orders begin on Force Friday at Best Buy and Lenovo online.
Nerdist: Ringing in Force Friday
Caution: Spoilers Ahead…
The fine folks at Nerdist did a nice job combining everyone’s passion for toys and speculation in their latest video.
“Join host and the galaxy’s deadliest Porg hunter, Jessica Chobot, as she points out that someone has put a ring on Snoke’s left hand,” wrote Blair Marnell on Thursday. “We’ve yet to see any evidence that Snoke even has a lightsaber of his own, but there is a precedent for his kyber crystal bling. As seen in Rogue One, kyber crystals have been known to be used as jewelry by non-Force sensitive people… [and] The Star Wars Aftermath novels may have even set the stage for Snoke’s rings.”

My guess is that the above puts you in a pretty good mood; particularly as you plot to hop to the store during at lunchtime. However, there’s sure to be plenty of news over the next few days. So, be sure to keep it on MSW. JB
