Colin Trevorrow has exited Star Wars: Episode IX. The rumors were swirling about something like this happening back when his writing partner left and then sooner after a new writer came aboard. After that fans began to notice Lucasfilm employees unfollowing Colin Trevorrow on social media.
The statement was very short from Lucasfilm on this critical departure:
Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.
I think we can all agree that the “young director” initiative is officially a failure, at least during this era of new Star Wars films. The turnover rates on these films for major positions is really high. So, Rian Johnson, are you ready to make another Star Wars movie? Please?
I’ll just leave this here:
I would do another SW movie in a heartbeat. I've had the time of my life.
