This morning fans where introduced to the planet Batuu on the revamped Star Tours. Disney also announced that Batuu will be the planet chosen as the setting for Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and Disneyland. Here are some details on the new planet:
“This remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order. While Batuu may be new to us, it is clearly already familiar to many characters from the Star Wars saga as a stepping off point for epic adventures.”
When we first saw the initial layout for Galaxy’s Edge I figured that this was a new planet as we’d never seen it before. If you are in California or Florida, definitely make sure to check out this new addition to Star Tours so you’ll get a feel for how the planet operates. Crait has also been added to Star Tours so that’ll also be worth checking out. Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens up to the public in early 2019.
Thanks to our buddy Judson for the heads-up!
