Fresh off the heels of veteran composer John Williams’ emotional The Last Jedi score, Williams spoke briefly with Variety about his plans for upcoming Ron Howard standalone, Solo.
The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly,
Previously we reported Powell would be scoring Solo in the style of the original Star Wars according to the Starwars.com announcement. Williams’ contribution of a main theme will no doubt comfort fans who’ve been waiting decades for more stories about the smuggler hero. I personally really enjoyed the unique Rogue One score by Michael Giacchino, but some of that appreciation was no doubt attributed to the score’s Williams influences. I’m happy that John Williams continues to contribute his mastery to my favorite films.
Head to Variety for more from Williams on the Solo score.
Solo is out May 25th, 2018.
