The Falcon attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to be one of the main experiences you must see when you’re there. The test footage of the ride has hit YouTube via WDW News Today. If you’re interested in the tech specs you can read this article we posted a few weeks back where NVIDIA detailed its process of using 8 power 3D cards connected via SLI.
The tech demo is running in real time. At one point during the demo, the operator stops, looks around and shows how it is rendering in real time. This means when we fly the Falcon we’re basically playing a really rad video game that will offer unique experiences with every ride on the attraction.
The field of view will be slightly different. So in the demo they show us what it will look like with the cockpit dome activated that will work with the projectors to give you an immersive experience.
Here is a gallery of some of the footage:
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open in 2019 and you’ll be able to fly the Falcon out of Batuu, the park’s setting. This ride appears to sort of take the Star Tours concept and allow you to control the experience. It has been stated that your performance on this ride will affect how you experience the park and how you’re interacted with by the locals. This is going to be a really neat experience.
Also DSNY has a neat video about the hotel which will be open for the park as well:
