Red Carpet Premiere
In what has become an important ritual before the debuts of this generation of Star Wars films, the red carpet premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story will be broadcast live on StarWars.com:
Visit StarWars.com on May 10 at 5 p.m. PT for exclusive red carpet coverage and interviews when The Star Wars Show broadcasts live from the world premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story in Los Angeles. Join your hosts, The Star Wars Show‘s Andi Gutierrez and Anthony Carboni, for this special event as they interview the creators and stars of Solo: A Star Wars Story, as well as other very special guests.
The fine folks over at Lucasfilm turned to their ferocious fandom to generate content for the show, asking four questions and soliciting short videos (under six seconds, please) as answers:
- Who would be your Millennium Falcon co-pilot?
- Which scoundrel would be the first to join your crew?
- What new alien are you most excited for?
- Who’s the galaxy’s most fashionable gambler?
Then, fans should share the videos using the hashtag #SoloSWS.

Embargoes Lift Early
In what’s been lauded as good news for everyone rooting for Solo: A Star Wars Story, Latino Review‘s Joseph Jammer Medina reported:
We’ve just had word that the review embargo is at 2pm PT on May 15, 2018 — a full 10 days before the movie’s official release on May 25, 2018. Additionally, it’s the same day that the film premieres at the Cannes Film Festival in France. This would seem to indicate that, despite the drama, Solo: A Star Wars Story may indeed be a story worth seeing — at least that’s what Lucasfilm and Disney seem to think.
Updated: Additionally, and according to Twitter chatter, the social media embargo lifts on Thursday, 9:30 PM PT in conjunction with the conclusion of th red carpet premiere in LA.
The bottom line occurs in the vicinity of Disney and Lucasfilm being supremely confident that Solo: A Star Wars Story being a winning gamble.
There is a possible spoiler for Solo: A Star Wars Story ahead…
Seriously, turn back if you want to be totally unspoiled.
Okay, “Cape UP with Jonathan Capehart” joined Mark Hamill at his home for a podcast Q & A, and let slip at 1:19:20 that a familiar face will appear in Solo. LRM’s Seth McDonald quoted Luke Skywalker, um, I mean Mark Hamill:
[Anthony] Daniels was so happy, ‘cause he’s in every single Star Wars movie. Every single one. All the prequels, he’s in Rogue One, he’s in Solo… Whoops! I hope that’s not — erm… but anyway, he’s in every single Star Wars movie. That’s not such a reveal — all Star Wars fans expect him to be in every movie.
Beyond that reveal, Hamill was on fire during this interview, using impressions and humor and history to weave a very entertaining tapestry that might make your day.
Breznican Broke it Down
Even though they ducked my question (about the convergence of Han and Fonzie), on Monday, there was a fun Twitter Q & A with Solo: A Star Wars Story Director Ron Howard. EW.com’s Anthony Breznican broke down the event.
“For one, Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) and Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), do not start out as friends,” said Breznican. “We will also get the first-ever Chewbacca theme song, from composer John Powell. And Howard himself does a pretty poor version of a Wookiee roar.”
Here’s one of the questions:
