UPDATE: Jon Favreau’s Star Wars TV series set post Return of the Jedi!

Tonight was the world premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story in LA, so naturally we’d hear a little bit of news. Nerdist interviewed Rio Durant himself, Jon Favreau, where he dropped a bomb shell for his upcoming live action Star Wars Series. Favreau states that the series will focus on a batch of all new characters and will take place 7 years after the Battle of Endor.

Favreau also states that they will be using cutting edge technology, similar to the tech used in The Jungle Book live action film. That leads me to conclude that we are going to be getting some stellar effects. I am very curious to see if we are only going to be getting new characters or if any of the characters we already know from the Saga might appear. Jon also confirmed during the premiere live stream that he has written half of season one.

We still don’t know how many episodes this show will have, so that could be roughly 6-13 episodes. I’m sure right now the casting department is searching for the leads of the show. I’m hoping this is something First Order based. I really want the Luke Skywalker/Ben Solo story but that’s not what this is sounding like. So I would totally take a First Order story for the time being. Though I think Favreau will rock it regardless of what it is about. I’m just really excited to see what this is about! The untitled Star Wars Series releases in 2019.

UPDATE:

Nerdist has updated their story to let everyone know that Favreau said his series takes place 7 years after the Battle of Yavin. It still takes place after Return of the Jedi, but not by 7 years as previously stated.
