Today at EA play we got some very exciting news regarding the next DLC for Star Wars Battlefront II. This summer we will be getting a Star Wars: The Clone Wars DLC! I can not begin to describe how excited I am for this. We are getting a new planet, Geonosis, alongside four new heroes and villains including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku, and General Grievous. Check out what EA had to say:
Today at EA Play, we announced that we are going to expand Star Wars Battlefront II with new content from the Clone Wars era, starting this fall with monthly updates.
One of the major theatres of war in the Star Wars prequel era, Geonosis, is coming as a new location to play and explore.Plus, two of the most highly requested Hero characters – Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous – will enter Star Wars Battlefront II.
And they will not come alone. Joining them is the Sith Lord and leader of the Separatists, Count Dooku, as well as Anakin Skywalker.
All four heroes and villains are a welcomed addition to Star Wars Battlefront II and I really cannot wait to play them. Jason, Amanda, and I have been playing a lot of Battlefront II lately and I think i can speak for all of us when I say we love the prequels and are very happy more prequel content is coming to the game. EA also dropped some news regarding new modes and what to expect going forward after the Han Solo season at the end of June:
Coming in July is a new Starfighter mode focused on piloting Hero ships. We’re pleased with the positive response we had on this season’s Hero Showdown, and believe players will appreciate this similar, more focused, approach to Hero Starfighter battles.
Here, players will spawn as one of the available Hero Starfighters on their respective sides. If taken out, you’ll re-enter the game as a normal fighter, bomber, or interceptor. To win the game, your team of four needs to take out all enemy Hero Starfighters.
And later this year, we’ll introduce a non-linear, larger-scale mode where players battle for control of objectives around the map. We’re also bringing changes to how squads will work, including spawning on squad mates.
I like that EA is adding in a “Heroes vs Villains” type mode for the starfighters. I can tell you right now that I am awful at starfighter mode; therefore I can never spawn as hero ships, so this is extra exciting for those of us that aren’t that great in this field and we can finally play as ships like the Millennium Falcon. EA also states that it will provide fans with a roadmap into the future of the game after the Han Solo season is over. With all that being said, what are your hopes for Battlefront in the future?
