Our buddy Trevor Monk is an enthusiast of Cardington Sheds, the larger hanger type structures. Trevor first discussed the use of the sheds with us back during the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story filming. It was our first indication that the temple from A New Hope was showing up in Rogue One.
Episode IX and Cardington Sheds
Now, Trevor is back with some photos that confirm they’re filming Star Wars: Episode IX in the sheds. It has been a pretty fun and interesting journey with this trilogy and I am interested to see what they do with the final installment of the Skywalker saga, for now anyways.
My mind immediately began to question if they’re returning to the site of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story base? While it is a long shot, it could be worth a little speculation at this early stage. Back during the production of The Force Awakens, the resistance base was Massassi Temple in a lot of concept pieces. Then in The Last Jedi we saw that Crait was actually a long lost rebel base with forgotten equipment used to fight The First Order in the final battle of the film. Could the resistance be using former rebel bases to pivot from The First Order in this film? It is probably unlikely but it is always fun to speculate that maybe those early ideas we saw working in The Last Jedi could still be ideas that are extrapolated upon for Star Wars: Episode: IX.
Check out the pic Trevor shot:
So there you have it, Star Wars: Episode IX is happening and it is going down at Cardington Sheds 2. Trevor also notes that those are not shield generators or anything, they’re just filming equipment in the second photo.
Rogue One Sheds
We can’t thank Trevor enough for all of his help and contributions over the course of these new Star Wars films.
(Update: the pic above is from the setting but the IX was just a fun thing Trevor did and we got our wires crossed.)
