Variety Confirms MSW scoop that Pedro Pascal will star in The Mandalorian

This morning Variety has confirmed our early October scoop that Pedro Pascal will be the star of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. Filming is still underway for The Mandalorian now.

Variety reports:

Pedro Pascal has been tapped to star in the “Star Wars” TV series “The Mandalorian,” which is expected to premiere on the Disney streaming service, Disney+.

Pascal’s name had previously been rumored for the role, but sources say he was one of many actors being considered. Now, insiders tell Variety that he has been offered the role and negotiations are underway.

Casting The Mandalorian

In October our sources were saying that Pascal couldn’t be confirmed, but was definitely a contender.

The last thing I heard was that Pedro Pascal was the person being held up as a central lead in the live-action Star Wars series about the restoration of Mandalore. We cannot confirm he has the part but he was a contender and sources of ours believe he’s a lead in the first live-action Star Wars television series.

We were really psyched about this rumored casting and are incredibly pleased to have it confirmed. Pascal is great in both Narcos and Game of Thrones and has much to offer the Star Wars universe. You can check out his IMDb here.  It will be interesting to see what impact a character like the Mandalorian makes in Star Wars and where else we might see him outside of this series.
