The Disney Parks blog just announced that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31st, 2019 in Anaheim. Walt Disney World will see the park open on August 29th, 2019. However, the park is going to have two phases. Phase One will have the Smuggler’s Run aka The Falcon Ride. But Rise of the Resistance will not be open until Phase 2 later in the year.
Disney says they’re opening early because of the intense interest level in the park. I’m a little mixed on the idea but it is probably the most realistic in the end. Most people that visit the parks are somewhat local so they’re likely to visit multiple times and it would probably be pretty intense to try and do both rides in the same day with the amount of people that are going to be dying to be there. You have us Star Wars crazies and the Disney crazies both clamoring to be there for the fun, if not the historical significance of the event.

Hopefully this option ends up working out well for everyone and makes it better for people that plan to travel later in the year. I think it is going to be a lot of fun but it will likely come with some unforeseen difficulties. I’m just happy this is even a thing. I hope to see you guys there!
