Happy Easter and in a way kind of fitting.

The last twenty four hours have been pretty exciting and crazy. I was at a reading late last night in Los Angles and a chance encounter allowed me to see evidence that Harrison Ford filmed a sequence for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Harrison Ford appears to be in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in a newly filmed moment with Adam Driver. I immediately began digging deeper and I was able to pull out disparate facts about the sequence in which Harrison Ford returns as Han Solo.

Sequence Fragments

The disparate facts from several MakingStarWars.net sources who have admitted Harrison Ford is in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker:

  • The main sequence takes place between Adam Driver and Harrison Ford or Kylo Ren and Han Solo.
  • One source called it a surprise intervention of sorts.
  • A source that did not work on or see the sequence believed it takes place when Kylo Ren asks the burned Darth Vader helmet to show him the darkness again.
  • Luke Skywalker appears to be the twist in the encounter.
  • The source was paraphrasing but Han Solo tells Ben Solo it isn’t too late and the sequence has a tone of forgiveness and understanding to it.
  • He’s not a “force ghost” in the classic sense and he’s part of a “vision” or “dream” type moment induced by Luke Skywalker.

We Don’t Have It All

No one source gave me the complete picture. So it is easy to pull these pieces together and think we have the sequence and we might. But I can’t say 100% that’s how it plays out. I can’t say if Anakin or Leia or anyone else is involved because I don’t know. If one of the bullet points above is inaccurate it could change the meaning of the entire sequence. The one thing several sources agree on is that Harrison Ford filmed a new sequence for The Rise of Skywalker.

If I had to guess I could see the sequence playing out where Kylo needs that extra push of evil and tries to use the Darth Vader helmet to get there. Instead Luke Skywalker intervenes and brings Han Solo from the “netherworld” into Kylo’s vision where his father lets him know it is never too late to return to the good side and he is forgiven. Maybe this is the moment Ben Solo returns to the light.

After Solo’s Death Kylo Struggles

Kylo Ren appears to be very evil when The Force Awakens begins. Once he kills Han Solo his actual conflict really begins and last throughout the last part of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and well into The Last Jedi. So what happens to that character at that moment in the story when his father and maybe even his uncle confront him?

Ford Being Back

I’m excited to have Harrison Ford back in a Star Wars film. I remember writing the story on Han Solo and Kylo Ren in which “The Jedi Killer silences the conversation forever” and we never see Han Solo again in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We figured he was dead in that moment and it was what happened. Now, here we are at the tail end of the trilogy and he’s back, in a way.
