Everyone is riding high on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer we just got from Star Wars Celebration. But you know fans, we always ask “what’s next?” I put out a feeler or two, a little early, but I figured what the hell and I think I may have the answers already.
A well respected source of mine with an excellent track record for accuracy tells MakingStarWars.net:
San Diego Comic Con should have a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker panel this summer and this year’s D23 is supposed to focus on The Mandalorian and the connection to The Disney+ service.
Now, things can change. But right now that’s the plan from what our sources tell us. I have had that initial quote backed up by another respected source so it is safe to say that unless something radical happens between now and then that is the plan. Of course, until the powers that be announce something, consider it a rumor. For what it is worth, I believe in these rumors to such a degree that I am booking my accommodations now based on them. I do not suggest you do the same but I believe my sources on this.
So it would seem at SDCC we have the chance for either a trailer or an extensive behind-the-scenes reel. Our sources were not sure exactly what choices had been made on that front at this time. I hope D23 isn’t a rehash of Star Wars Celebration. They never officially released the footage they showed us at Celebration. So fingers crossed they don’t just double up there.
It does make sense to push The Mandalorian at D23 as Disney+ is the biggest thing Disney will be putting on for sometime. Abrams did SDCC for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Disney skipped it for The Last Jedi and the Star Wars Story films.
MakingStarWars.net will be attending both events to bring you the news as it happens. SDCC is the week of July 18th, 2019.
