Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige is joining the Star Wars family according to The Hollywood Reporter! It is said that Kevin had a meeting this summer between Kathleen Kennedy as well as Disney’s Alan Horn and Alan Bergman on this unknown Star Wars project. THR reached out to Disney for comment where Alan Horn said the following:
“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”
We aren’t sure if Kevin is directing or writing the project, but he definitely seems to be heavily involved. THR also mentioned how he already has a particular actor in mind for this new film. If Feige isn’t directing the film then there is always a possibility that one of the many directors from Marvel can take that spot. We’ve already seen Marvel directors Taika Waititi and Jon Favreau take on Star Wars projects such as The Mandalorian, so it’s pretty exciting to see the two franchises sharing some of the same talent. From what we heard, the Star Wars timeline shown at D23 wasn’t that firm and there was still room for more films to be added. We had heard that Feige was involved with Lucasfilm but it wasn’t clear if he was producing a film or taking over as president of Lucasfilm. So the split in the THR article lines up perfectly with that the stuff we were hearing.
