Leslye Headland to produce female-centric series Star Wars series for Disney!

If you’re a fan of Russian Doll, you’re going to be jazzed by this new. Leslye Headland is going to be bringing us a new Star Wars series for Disney+. Russian Doll is really strong and if you have Netflix (right now who doesn’t?) I suggest checking it out if you haven’t.

Variety reports:

sources say it will be a female-centric series that takes place in a different part of the “Star Wars” timeline than other projects. Headland is said to be attached to write and serve as showrunner on the series, with the show currently staffing.

I wonder what timeline the meaning of the timeline is in this instance? Mandalorian is after Return of the Jedi. Cassian is before Rogue One and Kenobi is after Revenge of the Sith. So that really leaves the High Republic era, the prequel era, and the sequel trilogy era for known canon eras in the Star Wars universe. Something tells me The Old Republic era probably isn’t in the cards with The High Republic being a thing on the horizon, it would just be really confusing and difficult for people who think The Child from The Mandalorian is actually Yoda as a kid or why Rey wasn’t in Rogue One.

I think The Mandalorian is a pretty macho show. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that action-based stuff for Star Wars. I also think Star Wars is a lot more dynamic than just one genre or type of story beat structure. If this series is actually female-centric, that should actually round out the potential scope for Star Wars on Disney+. Female-centric can really mean anything though. It can mean it’s The Mandalorian with ladies in the leads or a series shot from the female gaze catering to feminine Star Wars fans. It would be kind of badass if it were all of those things somehow.

Check out The Mandalorian news from yesterday if you missed it!
