Idiot’s Array: Episode 73 – #StarWarsASportsMovie and Resistance

We laughed, we cried, and Alan almost died on Episode 73 of “Idiot’s Array”. Alan, Mark, and Ryder start this episode by discussing the new Star Wars: Resistance trailer. What did we like and what are we looking forward to?

Then the show goes out of bounds as we talk about many of our listeners responses to #StarWarsASportsMovie. Also, Ryder does his best to ruin the show with an Admiral Piett discussion and some personal stories. This episode may not look like much, but it’s got it where it counts, kid.

Idiot’s Array: Episode 72 – Anybody Can Become Somebody

Alan, Mark, and Ryder begin the show by discussing the Episode IX casting announcement. What are we most excited about? What surprised us the most?

For our main topic we discuss the Star Wars theme that anybody can become somebody.

-Why do we love this storytelling theme so much in Star Wars?

-What makes for a better story: a character who puts themselves in the underdog situation or someone who is put there by another character?

-Does this theme work for Dark Side characters also?

We also ask for listener feedback on #StarWarsASportsMovie on our Twitter feed.

You are definitely somebody to us and we’d love you to join us for Episode 72!

Idiot’s Array Episode 70: Solo and Cynicism

In this episode Alan, Mark, and Ryder discuss Han Solo’s cynicism.

Why did Han Solo become so cynical between Solo and A New Hope?

Was his cynicism a defense mechanism that helped him survive?

What changed between A New Hope and The Force Awakens to allow Han to believe in the Force and become less cynical?

Why do some characters Star Wars become cynical and others don’t?

Also, Alan and Mark quote song lyrics and Ryder gets a new nickname. We have a really good feeling about this!

Idiot’s Array: Episode 69 – How Does a Character’s Past Affect His/Her Future?

In Episode 69 Alan, Mark, and Ryder continue their examination of the themes of Solo by discussing how a character’s past affects his/her future.

In Solo, did Han overcome his past? What is his past? And what about in A New Hope?

Why is it so difficult for a character to overcome his/her past?

Is it harder for a character to overcome a self-inflicted past or one caused by others or events?

Did Luke overcome his past in The Last Jedi or was that who Luke always was?

In Star Wars, who else has overcome their past?

All of this as much, much more on this episode of “Idiot’s Array.” We have a really good feeling about this!

Also, Alan teases some of his song lyrics and Ryder pays his wife the ultimate compliment. All of this and much, much more. Mark is missing, but Alan and Ryder hold down the sabacc table in his absence.

WARNING: Assume that this episode has SPOILERS and you will never be disappointed.

What did we get in Solo that we loved but hadn’t expected?

What did we think of Alden Ehrenreich’s performance?

Did Lando steal the show?

Was “Idiot’s Array” mentioned in the movie?

We talk about these topics and much, much more. We have a really good feeling about this.

Idiot’s Array: Episode 64 – Solo, Singing, and Sutter’s Impersonations

In this episode we blast our way through a lot of topics!

We start with an exciting announcement for “Idiot’s Array” before we get into our listener question from last week (Who else would we have liked to see play Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace?), along with Mark’s spot-on impersonations.

Then we discuss our thoughts and impressions on the latest Solo trailer. Did we have any favorite moments? Did it feel like a Han Solo movie? Are there any characters we’d like to see in the movie? And that music!

Also, Mark loves The Beatles, Alan sings The Beatles, and Ryder doesn’t love The Beatles.

Idiot’s Array: Episode 63 – Qui-Gon Jin Revisited

In this episode we revisit one of our favorite Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn.

What do we love best about Qui-Gon?

How would the galaxy have been different if Qui-Gon had lived past The Phantom Menace?

How did Anakin remember Qui-Gon and would his path have been different if Qui-Gon hadn’t died?

How does Qui-Gon influence events in the sequel trilogy?

Stick around for our latest listener feedback question and impersonations (if that is the right word) by Mark.
